The Department of Civil Engineering, Amal Jyothi College of Engineering in association with ISTE Kerala and Indian Concrete Institute is organizing a two day national conference on 25th and 26th of April, 2019.
The conference will provide a platform for subject experts, researchers and business persons to discuss developments and technological advances in their area of expertise.
Research in the field of Civil Engineering is traditionally focused in isolated areas. This trend is gradually changing and the experts are looking towards collaboration. In this conference, applications and impacts of challenges faced in each research area will be taken up for discussion in a general forum consisting of experts from multiple fields. Indian Concrete Institute is one of the leading professional bodies in India, catering to the professional needs of individuals and organisations involved in Concrete. The Genesis of ICI dates back to the year 1982, when SERC Chennai and Anna University jointly conducted an International Seminar on Modern Concrete Construction Practices. The overwhelming response to the seminar prompted the Organisers to start the Indian Concrete Institute. Thus, the ICI was born in 1982 with around 500 members from 5 regional Centres. Since then, there is no looking back and ICI has grown in leaps and bounds. Today ICI is a strong professional body having more than 12, 000 enrolled members, from 38 regional Centres in all major cities, spread across the entire length and breadth of the country. Of these, more than 270 are Organisational Members. All segments of cement and concrete industries are widely represented in the membership.Keynote Speakers
Dr. B. K. Bhavathrathan served as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. In the Future Urban Mobility research-group there, he assisted Prof. Moshe Ben-Akiva in developing models for SimMobility- a comprehensive urban transportation simulation platform. He holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His thesis – with the guidance of Dr. Gopal R. Patil – identifies the existence and uniqueness of formally-definable critical states on disruption-prone urban road networks. His primary research interests concerns traffic flow on urban road networks, especially pertaining to service deterioration. After graduating in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Thrissur, University of Calicut, he had obtained a master’s degree in Transportation Systems Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.
Dr. Jeevan Joseph completed his B.Tech in Civil engineering from Saintgits College of Engineering and further, he pursued his Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from NIT, Suratkal. He joined IIT Bombay to pursue his research interest in the field of Energy Geotechnics and got awarded with the Ph. D degree in 2017. Within the short span of 3 years, he could publish more than half a dozen international journals and couple of patents to his title. He has received research grants from ONGC for developing methodologies and instrumentation for simulating insitu conditions of gas hydrate bearing sediments. He was a visiting researcher in UPC, Barcelona from the European Commission, via the Marie Curie IRES project GREAT, ‘Geotechnical and Geological Responses to Climate Change. He has also delivered talk for Kyoto University, Japan on the topic, ‘Implication of pore characteristics in unsaturated soil Mechanics’. Currently he is working as Asst. Professor in the department of Civil Engineering at NIT Trichy.
