New Member Guide โ€” Library Circulation Policy

Welcome to the AJCE Central Library. This guide covers everything you need to know about your library membership โ€” borrowing books, loan periods, fines, renewals, and how to clear your dues before leaving the institution.

Circulation Policy
๐Ÿ‘ค Library Membership
  • Membership is automatically conferred to all faculty members, research scholars, and students on joining the College, and remains valid for the full tenure.
  • All students are eligible to check out materials for home use or for use within the library.
  • To borrow books, you must activate your membership at the library circulation counter.

  • Bring the book you wish to borrow to the Issue Desk. It will be issued and the return date stamped on the date slip inside.
  • Enter the details of the book in the register at the counter.
โš  Overdue Charges
  • Books in the loan section are issued as per rules.
  • An overdue notice is sent via email when an item is not returned on time.
  • Fines accumulate each day โ€” including holidays โ€” until the item is returned.
Fine Structure: Rs. 3/- per day for the first five days, and thereafter Rs. 5/- per day until the book is returned.
๐Ÿ”„ Renewal
  • Most library books โ€” unless reserved for another patron โ€” may be renewed for 2 additional loan periods.
  • To renew, bring the books to the Circulation Counter and renew them in your library account.
The library reserves the right to recall a book at any time if it is required by another user.
๐Ÿ” Lost Borrowed Book

If you lose a borrowed library book, make an application immediately to the in-charge of the Circulation Section. Doing so within 15 days provides relief from paying delay fines from the date of application.

You must then take one of the following actions as per library rules:

a) Replace the lost book with a new copy as per library regulation; or

b) Pay double the price of the lost book.

โœ… Clearance of Library Dues

A No Dues / Clearance Certificate is issued only after all outstanding dues โ€” including borrowed books and delay fines โ€” are fully cleared. Ensure you return all books and settle fines before applying for your clearance certificate.
