The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 2001. Postgraduate courses in Power Electronics and Power Systems were introduced in 2009, followed by Energy Systems in 2013. The B.Tech program has been accredited by the NBA four times: in 2008, 2017, 2020, and 2023. The department aims to equip students with technical knowledge and professional skills, supported by a dedicated faculty and technical staff, to produce competent engineers. We are immensely honoured by the numerous accolades achieved by our students and alumni. It is with pride we note that Mr. Justin K. Kurian (distinguished alumnus from the 2006 batch) had secured first rank in the M.G University examinations.
In today's rapidly advancing world, Electrical Engineering plays a crucial role across all technological domains. Amal Jyothi provides a highly stimulating learning environment and a rigorous academic curriculum, making it an ideal platform for acquiring a strong foundation in modern Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The past two decades have witnessed the emergence of new opportunities in the design and application of solar energy, energy-efficient drives, wind conversion turbines, and other forms of renewable energy. Application engineers play a crucial role in designing systems that serve these areas. They collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, aeronautical, chemical, and electronics engineering, to address a wide range of interdisciplinary issues. The scope of their activities is extensive, and they frequently serve as the primary force behind many Engineering, Procurement, and Construction organizations.
Pursuing a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering offers numerous advantages. It provides a solid foundation in a rapidly evolving field that is critical to modern technology and infrastructure. Graduates enjoy diverse career opportunities in industries such as telecommunications, renewable energy, robotics, and automation. The program fosters strong analytical and problem-solving skills, preparing students to tackle complex engineering challenges. Additionally, it equips graduates with both technical expertise and professional skills, making them highly sought after by employers globally.
B.Tech – Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
Electrical Engineering harnesses the principles of electricity, magnetism, and light to create innovative technologies that serve humanity. This field covers various aspects, including the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy. Electrical engineers are integral to everyday life, ensuring the functionality of home lighting, kitchen appliances, and industrial machinery. Their expertise extends to vital sectors such as telecommunications, television, computer technology, medicine, education, space exploration, and defense. Numerous scientific disciplines depend on electrical engineers for their design, analysis, and maintenance capabilities.
Specialists in Electrical and Electronics Engineering focus on developing and analyzing controllers and power converters to achieve specific electromechanical system characteristics. Electrical Engineering's influence spans all areas of modern technology. At Amal Jyothi, students in Electrical and Electronics Engineering gain essential knowledge and skills through hands-on collaboration with distinguished faculty in state-of-the-art laboratories, covering key areas like Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and Control Engineering
The M.Tech in Energy Systems (ES) program was established in response to the rapidly evolving energy engineering landscape. This program is approved by AICTE and affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum. It is currently available to graduates of electrical and mechanical engineering. The curriculum prepares energy engineers to work in multidisciplinary fields. Alumni of this program have successfully pursued careers in academia, energy engineering, application engineering, and as energy economists.
The program offers courses in mathematical optimization techniques, solar, wind, and hybrid energy systems, economics of energy resources and energy auditing. Among several others a few of the elective courses offered include FACTS, power quality, and digital controllers. Additionally, there is an industrial internship/training component during the summer. The final year is dedicated primarily to the implementation of a simulation or hardware project and the academic publication of results.
